In February, we hosted a powerful and heartfelt evening at David Lloyd focused on The M Word — menopause. It was an evening filled with honesty, vulnerability and shared understanding among women navigating this intense and often invisible journey.
One of the most moving parts of the night was asking attendees:
“What would you want your partner to know about menopause?”
Here are just a few of the raw and real responses we received:
“Everything feels such hard work, mentally and physically: give me a break.”
“It’s normal and it’s ok to not be ok. Tell him/her how you are feeling and TALK.”
“I feel really bad that I have no interest whatsoever in intercourse. I love my husband but have no sex drive whatsoever.”
Each quote speaks to a universal truth: menopause is not just a medical or hormonal phase — it’s an emotional and relational one too.
Women are asking not for sympathy, but for understanding — to be seen, heard and supported as they move through what can feel like a deeply lonely and disorienting season.
Menopause also brings with it a whole host of musculoskeletal symptoms — from joint pain and stiffness to loss of strength and bone density. The good news? Physiotherapy can help. Our team of skilled physiotherapists are here to support you with evidence-based strategies to help you move well, feel stronger, and reclaim your quality of life.
If you’d like to explore your symptoms further in a safe, supportive space — please do get in touch. We’re here to help.
Because when we start talking, we all start healing.
