THE PRESTONS HEALTH STORY
Holistic healthcare is the heart of our family business in Peterborough and has been since 1969. We have had 3 generations of the Prestons family helping to create the Prestons tradition of caring for their patients wellbeing through ethical, evidence based practice. Using techniques that work and get you back on track, doing what you love again.
Albert Preston worked as a remedial gymnast during the war and moved to Peterborough in 1947 with his wife Elsie and twin boys.
He was Chief Physiotherapist at Thorpe Hall Rehabilitation Centre while also working for Peterborough United Football Club (POSH) for 25 years and later he worked privately from his home until he was 75 years old.
Inspired by their father, both sons qualified as Chartered Physiotherapists in the 1960’s, William worked at the National Spinal Injury Centre at Stoke Mandeville and was the Physiotherapist to the English Commonwealth Paraplegic Games in 1966 in Jamaica and George was Physiotherapist to Leicester Football Club for many years. Both William and George went on to build successful private practices with William founding Prestons Physiotherapy at Alexandra Road in Peterborough in 1969.
The Peterborough Clinic was redeveloped in 1995 to include private treatment rooms, a rehabilitation studio and an extensive free car park onsite and in 2001, Helen (William’s daughter) took over the reigns in Peterborough having qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist herself in 1996.
Watching the generations before her practice their craft, Helen learned the importance of the strong therapeutic relationship (the art) alongside the need for evidence based practice (the science) for successful patient outcomes.
Having always been interested in holistic therapies, Helen has been inspired by recent research to form Prestons to become a multidisciplinary, evidence based, holistic healthcare company committed to patient experience.
Prestons Physiotherapy was then expanded into Prestons Health in 2013 to reflect a focussed direction into multidimensional care. Prestons Health is now the largest independent healthcare provider in the Peterborough and Oundle area with a range of different therapists and therapies.
We work under the Prestons Health ethos of patient care developed over the last 40 years, and we are here to listen to your story.
